The Art Deco Society of Washington (ADSW) invites your participation in the 38th annual Washington DC Modernism Show April 23 -25, 2021, with an Early Buyers Preview April 22. ADSW is again partnering with Ruby to produce the online show.

An online show reaches more modernism enthusiasts than an in-person show can attract. At our first online Modernism show last Fall, thousands of customers searched through more than 5,000 product listings. The show was extensively promoted in social and print media, including Atomic Ranch, Antique Trader, Antiques & the Arts, Mid Mod Treasures, and the Journal of Antiques. Similar publicity efforts are planned for the April 2021 show.

The show reaches a nationwide and even international audience through the partnership with Ruby Lane. This effort is further expanded through ADSW’s participation in the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies and its 30+ members

The show will be promoted through a series of weekly "Meet the Dealers" email blasts featuring some of the special items dealers will be "bringing" to the show. Those items will also be featured on the Gallery page of this website beginning March 15th and featured in ADSW’s Facebook and Instagram postings.

Participating dealers will be listed on the Exhibitor page (link) of this website and in the show program. Each dealer determines how much information to share. The listing can include phone number(s), email address, store address, website address, and specialties. There is also room for a company logo on the Exhibitor page.

Dealers can increase their visibility by purchasing a display ad in the program. Dealers participating in the show can purchase a display ad at half-price. The program will be posted on the Exhibitor page of this website shortly before the show and distributed to thousands of potential customers through an email blast. The program will remain on this website and the ADSW ( website indefinitely. View the last 3 years of programs here (link to exhibitor page).

Participating in the show and/or advertising in the show program is a cost-effective way to promote your shop or mall. Unlike other online shows where dealer contact information disappears as soon as the show ends, the Washington Modernism Show website and the show program preserve your data for posterity.

Dealers can participate in the Show and list up to 250 items for sale by paying a $60 registration fee to ADSW. They will than pay an 8% commission on the purchase (sales price plus shipping). The commission is capped at $250 for higher priced items. The commission is collected by Ruby Lane and split between Ruby Lane and ADSW.

Antique malls and multi-dealer shops are welcome to participate in the show and offer items for sale by their member dealers.

Registration is a 2-step process

Register with ADSW
ADSW uses Constant Contact to register dealers. The dealer application solicits basic contact information and preferences for the show program. It also offers an optional opportunity to place a display ad in the show program at half-price. Dealers will pay the registration fee to ADSW. Upon completion of the ADSW registration, dealers will receive a confirmation email. That email will include a link to Ruby Lane to use in completing the second phase of the registration process.

Register with Ruby Lane
Dealers who have an existing booth (i.e., have participated in a prior online show) or shop (i.e., have an active shop) on Ruby Lane can simply use the link in the confirmation email to log into Ruby Lane and begin or continue listing items for sale in the show. Half-price display ads are only available to dealers participating in the show. Others should use the advertiser application (link).Within broad guidelines, dealers have considerable flexibility with respect to • How and when customers contact them • How much is charged for shipping • Return policies • How many items to offer for sale, up to a limit of 250. Participating dealers must have a Paypal business account. Converting a personal account to a business account is a pretty easy process and will allow Ruby Lane to automatically calculate sales taxes and collect commissions on sales. Participating dealers do not need to have a Ruby Lane shop, but may be invited to join Ruby Lane after the show.
